Lubricants

Lubricants prevent hot PVC from sticking to metal surfaces while processing. They are a must with suspension resin compounds but have a much lesser role in Plastisol. Stearic Acid, Waxes including High Molecular waxes and many complex esters are commonly used as lubricants. Lubricants and their correct selection play a vital role in processing- too little and the melt is sticky, hangs up inside processing surface and starts degrading; too much, and the melt slips on the extruder screw, reducing production rate.
Lubricants can be both internal (the movement of melt molecules, improving processability) and external (melt flow over metal processing surfaces). The Lubrication system has to have a balance of both.

ONE-PACK LUBRICANT (BL-20)

Mahavir Group has been a key in developing BL-20 as a one-pack lubricant along with Baerlocher. Bl-20 is a complex lubricant compound which provides both internal & external lubrication while processing and is used in less dosage as compared to its counterparts of Stearic Acid, Waxes, and Calcium Stearate. It is a combination of various waxes, lubricating acids, calcium stearates, GMS and high-molecular waxes which helps provide a superior lubricating effect while reducing the dosage and helping in cost reduction.

STEARIC ACID

Stearic Acid is a type of naturally occurring long-chain fatty acid which is also known as octadecanoic acid. It finds application for softening polyvinyl chloride polymer so as to assure easy processing in different shapes. This compound is highly appreciated for having the ability to impart good thermal stability, lubricity, & strength to PVC pipes and other structures.
Stearic Acids are used in various industrial applications including manufacturing of rubber tyres, PVC stabilizers, PVC pipes and plastics, various metallic stearates, cosmetics, metal buffing compounds, textiles, leather & paper auxiliaries, candle-making, etc.
At Mahavir Group, we deal both PVC & Rubber grade stearic acid manufactured by some of the prominent manufacturers such as Ritesh, Sheel Chand, 3F, and Adani.

WAXES

Synthetic Waxes are used in numerous industrial applications, including the manufacture of hot glues, hot melt adhesives, polymers and countless other products. They offer superior protection and longevity in the automotive, metal, rubber and textile industries. Each synthetic wax type may offer unique benefits in specific uses. For instance, Polyethylene wax is used in various applications like cable filing, polish, masterbatch, printing ink, pvc compounding, rubber processing, textile treatment, paints, fruit coating, paper coating etc; and Paraffin Wax is used in applications like candles, wax paper, polishes, cosmetics, and electrical insulators.

At Mahavir, we deal in many types of synthetic waxes including PE Wax, Semi-refined Paraffin Wax and FT Wax.

GMS

Glycerol monostearate (GMS) is a is the glycerol ester of stearic acid. It is in the form of a white, odourless, and sweet-tasting flaky powder that is hygroscopic. GMS is a food additive used as a thickening, emulsifying, anticaking, and preservative agent; an emulsifying agent for oils, waxes, and solvents; a protective coating for hygroscopic powders; a solidifier and control release agent in pharmaceuticals; and a resin lubricant. It is also used in cosmetics and hair-care products.
It can also be used as an additive in plastic, where GMS works as an antistatic and antifogging agent. In PVC, it increases the surface area of the granules improving plasticizer absorption and it is an effective internal lubricant offering synergistic co stabilizing properties. It acts as internal mold release for PET, TPU and SAN and as a good slip agent in ABS.

We, at Mahavir Group, deal in GMS manufactured by Fine Organics as their authorised dealer for North India.

STEARATES

Calcium Stearate and Zinc Stearate are obtained from the reaction of stearic acid with lime and zinc oxide respectively. These are fine, white and silky to the touch powder which are very stable under high temperature conditions, extremely resistant to water and provides water repellent properties. Both of these are used as lubricants and stabilizers in the PVC industry, but also have various uses apart for this.
Zinc stearate is widely used as a release agent for the production of many kinds of objects: rubber, polyurethane, polyester processing system, powder metallurgy. In cosmetics, zinc stearate is a lubricant and thickening agent used to improve texture. Zinc Stearate is also a highly effective pigment dispersion aid and lubricant in PVC, polyethylene and ABS production. In sheet molding compound applications, it is used as a viscosity modifier and improves the surface of the finished good.
Calcium Stearate on the other hand, is primarily used as an acid scavenger, release agent and lubricant in the plastics industry, for waterproofing in construction, and as an anti-caking additive in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

We, at Mahavir Group, deal in Zinc & Calcium Stearates manufactured by Baerlocher as their Consignee Stockist for North India.
