Additives

Additives are the special chemicals or compounds which are added to PVC during the manufacturing process which not only help during the manufacturing process, but also help provide the final product with the desired physical properties,
The most common types of PVC additives include Chlorinated Poly Ethylene, Impact Modifiers and Processing Aids.

CPE

Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) is an inexpensive variation of polyethylene, where chlorine is substituted for some of the hydrogen atoms. Due to its soft, rubbery texture, CPE is added to polyvinyl chloride to increase its impact and weather resistance. It helps provide both PVC tensile strength and tensile elongation.
It is an excellent impact modifier for PVC plastics and an excellent synthetic rubber with comprehensive functions. It has a wide range of applications. CPE has been widely used in cables, wires, hoses, rubber and plastic products, sealing materials, flame retardant conveyor belts, waterproof rolls, films and various profiles.
CPE can also be blended with polypropylene, high- and low-pressure polyethylene and ABS to improve the flame-retardancy, aging resistance and printing function of these plastics.
It can also be used as a base polymer for applications like jacketing, roofing, automotive and industrial hose and tubing, molding and extrusion.

Mahavir Group is one of the largest distributors of CPE in India and are the authorised distributors of Hz Keli in North India.

Impact Modifiers

Impact Modifiers is a family of Acrylic and MBS copolymers which act like rubber and improve resistance to shock loads in Rigid PVC products. Impact Modifiers for PVC are added to composite materials to improve the durability and toughness of plastic resins. In addition to impact performance, a number of other material characteristics such as optical and tensile properties, weatherability, processability, flammability, heat distortion and cost can also be improved by adding impact modifiers to PVC. One of the main applications of impact modifiers is to increase the impact resistance of PVC products without impairing other properties. Application area for impact modifiers include PVC profiles, siding, fence, sheets, boards, pipes, pipe fittings, outdoor transparent products, such as corrugated sheets, sign boards, and many others.

At Mahavir, we deal in Impact Modifiers from some of the predominant manufacturers in the world such as Dow, Arkema, Kaneka, Baerlocher and many others.

Processing Aids

Processing aids are an important class of additives for PVC. At relatively low concentration, processing aids enable the melt processing of rigid PVC and enlarge its processing windows. It also offers outstanding efficiency for improving the processing characteristics such as melt strength, faster fusion, and promotion of melt homogeneity and surface finish. There are various types of processing aids based of molecular weights.
The lower molecular weight processing aids primarily provide metal release and are used in all PVC manufacturing processes for clear and opaque products. Medium molecular weight processing aids helps in fusion, metal release and melt strength. They are available in varying molecular weight ranges. These are mostly used for calendaring process, but can be used for clear and opaque products as well. High molecular weight process aids are used in flexible PVC processing, and the ultra-high molecular weight processing aids are used in cellular PVC applications like Foamboard, WPC, celuka board, and other foamed applications.

At Mahavir, we deal in Processing Aids from some of the major manufacturers in the world such as Dow, Chemours, Arkema, Kaneka, Baerlocher and many others.
